Festival
Guru Purnima
The day given over entirely to the guru — the one occasion in the year when the whole line, from Adinath to the present teacher, is honoured together.
Guru Purnima is the fullest day in the mandir's year. A special havan is performed at sunrise, the Guru's feet are worshipped through the morning, and a full meal is cooked and served to everyone who comes.
Devotees who received diksha here return on this day, some from a long way off. If you have been thinking of coming to the mandir for the first time, this is a generous day to choose — nobody will be watching whether you know what to do.
The day
- Sunrise — special havan
- Morning — guru puja
- Midday — annadaan, the community meal
- Evening — satsang, and aarti to close
