Kriya Yoga was restored to the world by Bhagavan Babaji and has never been read from a book. It passes from one living person to the next, and this is the line along which it reached Katraj.

Three presences are honoured here, and the name of the mandir carries all three.
Shri Siddhivinayak
Ganesha in the form that grants siddhi — accomplishment. Nothing at this mandir begins without him.
Machindranath
The founder of the Nath order, honoured here as the guru whose line this mandir belongs to.
Shri Datta Guru
The guru-principle itself, in whom Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are one.

What is taught
The practices
Each of these is a real discipline with its own demands. Some may be begun today; others are only ever given hand to hand.
Kriya Yoga
The central practice of this mandir — a discipline of breath and attention that works directly on the energy of the spine.
Meditation
Sitting still and paying attention. Simple to describe, and the ground everything else is built on.
Kundalini
The coiled energy at the base of the spine, and what it means for it to rise. The emblem of this mandir depicts exactly this.
Khechari Mudra
An advanced mudra of the Nath tradition, given only in person and only after long preparation.
Mudra & Asana
The gestures and postures that make the body a fit place to practise in.
Mantra
Sound used as a practice — repeated until the repetition does the work.
Initiation
Kriya Diksha
The deeper kriyas are not published anywhere. They are given in person, by a teacher who can watch what happens next.

Thursday havan
The weekly fire ceremony on guruvar, the day of Datta Guru.
Guru Purnima
The day given over entirely to the guru — the one occasion in the year when the whole line, from Adinath to the present teacher, is honoured together.
Diksha day
Kriya Yoga given to those the Guru has judged ready. Not a public ceremony.
The sangha
Those who come here
The mandir is kept by the people who come to it — those who sit through the havan, cook the prasad, sweep the floor and stay behind to put the chairs away. Nobody is enrolled and nobody is counted.
Seva and support
Keeping the fire lit
The mandir asks nothing for its teaching. What it costs to run — the fire, the offerings, the electricity, the repairs — is carried by those who come.
The havan fire
Wood, ghee, grain and herbs for the fire ceremony, twice every week.
Annadaan — feeding
Prasad after aarti, and full meals on festival days.
The lamp and the puja
Oil, wicks, flowers, incense and the daily articles of worship.
