Initiation

Kriya Diksha

Diksha is the moment a technique stops being something you have read about and becomes something you have been given. It is not a certificate, a course or a membership. It is a transmission, and it happens in person.

Who may receive it

  • Anyone who asks sincerely

There is no requirement of caste, community, nationality or religion. People of every background sit in this mandir.

  • Adults, and young people with their family

Anyone under eighteen is initiated only with a parent or guardian present and willing.

  • Those who have already begun

The Guru will usually ask you to keep a simple daily practice for a while first. He is not testing you; he is watching whether the discipline suits your life as it actually is.

What is expected afterwards

  • Daily practice

A short practice done every day outruns a long practice done when the mood takes you.

  • Honesty with your teacher

About what is actually happening in your practice, including when nothing is.

  • Discretion

What is given at diksha is not passed on to others. It was not given to you to give away.

The way in

How to ask

  1. Come to the mandir

Sit through a satsang or a havan. Nothing is asked of you and nothing is expected.

  2. Speak to the Guru

There is no form to fill in and no fee for asking. If you would rather write first, use the contact page.

  3. Practise what you are given

Diksha is arranged when the Guru judges it right — sometimes the same week, sometimes after a season of practice.

When you are ready

Speak to the Guru

Come to a satsang or a havan first if you would rather see the place before you say anything. Nobody will ask you why you are there.
