In detail

What each one is

Havan in progress at the mandir, flowers and offerings arranged on the kund

Morning aarti

The day at the mandir opens with the lamp, before anything else happens.

The morning aarti is short — twenty minutes or so — and it happens every day without exception, whether there are twenty people present or none.

Anyone may come. You do not need to know the words; standing quietly at the back is a complete way to attend.

When
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday · 6:30 AM
Open to
Everyone is welcome

Evening aarti

The lamp again at the close of the day, followed by prasad.

The evening aarti is the better attended of the two, and the easier one to come to for the first time. Prasad is distributed afterwards and people stay to talk.

When
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday · 7:00 PM
Open to
Everyone is welcome

Havan

The fire ceremony — offerings given into agni with mantra.

Havan is the practice this mandir is most recognised for. A fire is built in the kund, and offerings of ghee, grain and herbs are given into it with mantra.

It runs roughly an hour and a half. Sit where you can see; the fire is the point.

Wear something you do not mind smelling of smoke afterwards. Everyone does.

When
Thursday, Sunday · 7:00 AM
Open to
Everyone is welcome

Satsang with the Guru

Teaching, and then questions — the place to ask what you actually want to ask.

Guru Sanjay Nath speaks, usually for half an hour, and then takes questions for as long as there are questions.

This is the most useful session for anyone new. Nothing is assumed, no question is treated as too basic, and there is no expectation that you will come back.

When
Sunday · 6:00 PM
Open to
Everyone is welcome

Meditation sitting

A silent group sitting. No instruction, no talking — just the room.

Forty-five minutes of silent meditation in company. There is no guidance given during the sitting; if you want instruction, come to satsang or ask afterwards.

Arrive before it begins. The door is not locked, but walking in at minute twenty is unkind to everyone already sitting.

When
Monday, Wednesday, Friday · 6:00 AM
Open to
Everyone is welcome

Kriya practice

Group practice for those who have received diksha.

Kriya practised together, for those who have been initiated. The Guru is present and corrects.

If you have not received diksha you are welcome to come to any other session on this timetable — but not this one, and the reason is on the Kriya Yoga page.
